SEATTLE (UPI) -- Seattle Mariners legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. has joined the Seattle Sounders' ownership group, the Major League Soccer club announced Tuesday. Griffey joins an ownership group that has undergone significant changes over the past two years. Among other people who form part of the group are Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, his wife and singer Ciara and rapper Macklemore. New York Mets sign veteran OF Melky Cabrera, two others

NEW YORK (UPI) -- The New York Mets signed three veteran players, including former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Melky Cabrera, to minor league contracts. The Mets announced the additions of right-handed pitcher Hunter Strickland, infielder Gordon Beckham and Cabrera on Monday. Mariners, Gonzales ink four-year contract extension

SEATTLE (UPI) -- The Seattle Mariners signed left-handed pitcher Marco Gonzales to a four-year contract extension, the team announced Monday. The extension, which begins in 2021, contains a club option for 2025, according to the team. League sources told The Athletic that Gonzales' four-year deal is worth $30 million.
