Paris to host 2024 Olympics, Los Angeles to follow in 2028

China overtakes Japan as largest U.S. creditor with $1.1 trillion owed

BEIJING/WASHINGTON (UPI) -- China has once again become the United States' largest creditor, Treasury Department figures released Wednesday indicate. China sold off some of its U.S. Treasury bonds last year to prop up its own currency, the yuan, but its holdings of U.S. government debt have increased this year to $1.15 trillion, an increase of $44 billion since June. McDonald’s plans 2,000 new restaurants in China by 2022

OAK BROOK, Ill. (UPI) -- McDonald's announced plans Tuesday to increase the number of restaurants in China from 2,500 to 4,500 within five years. The company also announced completion of a partnership deal with Citic and Carlyle to sell a controlling interest in the fast-food company's China and Hong Kong operations for 20 years.
