BMW recalls 1.4 million vehicles over fire risk

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. (UPI) -- German automaker BMW announced Friday it is recalling 1.4 million vehicles in North America over fire risks. The company issued two recalls with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The first affects some 740,000 vehicles, including the 1-, 3- and 5-Series, Z4, X3 and X5 from model years 2007-11. These vehicles may develop a rusty crankcase ventilation valve, posing a fire risk.
