AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door: JAS/Suzuki on top

CHICAGO — The main show for AEW x NJPW Forbidden kicked off with Kevin Kelly, Taz, and Excalibur on commentary. Jim Ross, Caprice Coleman, and Tony Schiavone would come out for individual matches throughout the night.

The main card kicked off with two members of the Jericho Appreciation Society, Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara. Minoru Suzuki rounded out their trios team. Eddie Kingston, Shota Umino, and the Blackpool Combat Club’s Wheeler Yuta represented the other side.

High stakes in Blood and Guts match on AEW Dynamite

There were high stakes involved, as the winning team gets an advantage in the Blood and Guts match this Wednesday night on Dynamite.

In-match action

Jericho started with Yuta who would instantly slap him. Yuta hit six rolling German suplexes before Jericho could elbow out. Yuta locked in a crossface that was quickly broken up by Guevara. Both teams started brawling around ringside. Umino hit Suzuki with his forearms to little to no effect.

The action settled in the ring with Guevara and Yuta. Kingston tried to interfere and got a huge chant from the crowd. Umino got the tag and kept looking over at Suzuki.

Umino is out for revenge for all the beatings he took from Suzuki as a Young Lion. Jericho took a beating from Umino. Kingston got the tag, but rather than deal with Kingston himself. Jericho tagged in Suzuki.

Kingston and Suzuki began exchanging chops. Kingston got the advantage, backing Suzuki into the corner for the machine gun chops. However, Suzuki walked right out of the corner, no-selling the chops.

JAS/Suzuki take momentum

Suzuki dropped Kingston with a forearm and the crowd and the crowd cheered him on. Kingston came back with the machine gun chops on Jericho and sent Guevara flying to the floor with one chop. Suzuki caught Kingston with the arm scissor in the ropes, and Jericho worked over Kingston’s arm.

Suzuki hit the PK kick on Kingston for a near fall. The trio each locked one of their opponents in a submission hold in a clever spot. Guevara dove off the top and into an exploder suplex from Kingston, who then got the tag to Umino.

Umino took Suzuki out with an elbow and a dropkick. Umino got a near fall with a fisherman’s suplex. Guevara hit a shooting star press on Umino on the floor. Yuta and Kingston followed up with dives of their own. Suzuki teased his own dive but instead took out Umino with a forearm.

Back in the ring, Kingston hit a backdrop diver on Guevara. He would lock in the stretch plum, but Suzuki broke that up. Suzuki then ran into the spinning back fist from Kingston. Everyone started to hit crazy moves on everyone else: Jericho a suplex on Kingston, Guevara a cutter on Umino, and Yuta a splash from the top on Guevara.

Guevara hit a knee on Umino and Jericho hit the code breaker on Umino for a near fall. Umino hit Jericho with a power slam from the middle rope for a near fall. On the floor, Conti distracted Wheeler Yuta and Guevara was able to blindside Yuta with the GTH.

Guevara caught Umino with a bat shot. But he still got a near fall on Jericho with a brain buster. Umino locked in a Boston Crab. However, Gevara broke it up with a pair of superkicks.

Suzuki took out Kingston with the Gotch Style piledriver. This left Umino 3-on-1 with the heels, and even though he managed to dispose of Suzuki and Guevara, Jericho hit Umino with the Judas effect and Jericho got the pinfall.

JAS has advantage in Blood and Guts match on AEW Dynamite

As a result, Jericho’s team will have the advantage on Wednesday in Blood and Guts.
