Nokomis Historical Society to reorganize

NOKOMIS — The Nokomis Historical Society will be holding a re-organizational meeting later this month.

The historical society will meet on Monday, March 31 at 6 p.m. inside the city council chambers at the Nokomis City Complex.

The meeting is to fill vacant positions on the board and to establish future plans for the organization. As of January 2025, the only officers of the Nokomis Historical Society were President JoAnn Keele and Secretary Jake Leonard, the latter elected by members at the June 2024 meeting. The passing of Keele in February has resulted in the vacancy at President, leaving Leonard as the only board member at this time.

Due to prior commitments with Newkomis’ Business Development Committee as its secretary and the meeting falling at the same time, Leonard will be unable to attend, but has expressed his interest to remain Secretary if the membership wishes to do so.

The historical society is seeking interested volunteers to step up for President, Vice President, and Treasurer. The meeting is open to the public.
