ST. LOUIS — An elderly St. Louis area man was arrested over the weekend at Lambert International Airport.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrested a 62-year-old man at Lambert Sunday on an outstanding felony warrant out of St. Louis County.
The unnamed individual was departing from St. Louis and heading to Germany with his wife. Officers from CBP were able to identify the individual through the passenger manifest, a picture, and other personal identifying information as an exact match to an active arrest warrant through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) for felony driving under the influence.
The individual was turned over to the St. Louis County Police Department for further processing.
“Our highly trained officers are always on alert for criminals that are fleeing the country to ensure they are held accountable for their actions,” said LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke, which is CBP’s Director of Field Operations at the agency’s Chicago office. “The use of law enforcement databases like NCIC and intelligence by CBP officers is extremely instrumental in the apprehension of wanted criminals.”
The NCIC is a centralized, automated database designed to share information across all law enforcement agencies. Some of this information includes outstanding warrants. Through this database, CBP officers have previously arrested individuals wanted for homicides, willful escape, money laundering, robberies, narcotics distribution, sex trafficking, sexual child abuse, fraud, larceny, and military desertion
No additional information was made available through the press release made available Tuesday morning. A court case search on cases heard Monday and Tuesday did not show anything related to this arrest.
