CHAMPAIGN — The Parkland College Board of Trustees voted to approve an increase of tuition and fees starting with the Summer 2025 term.

The board approved an increase of 4.2 percent to both tuition and fees for in-district students. In-district students should expect an increase of $7.50 per credit hour for most of the college’s Tier 1 program offerings. Due to the tuition increase, tuition will now be $186 per credit hour. The current tuition rate for all Tier 1 programs is $178.50 per credit hour.

Nothing was indicated in the vote on whether the increases would impact Tier 2 program offerings, which carry a tuition fee of $257.75 per credit hour.

The rate for in-rate tuition for Tier 1 and Tier 2 program offerings is the same for on-campus and online/distance learning.

Parkland not hiking tuition rates for in-state/out-of-district, out-of-state, or international students

Out-of-district students residing in the state of Illinois will not see an increase in tuition rates, which will remain at $401.75 per credit hour for on-campus learning and $257.75 for online/distance learning.

Also not expecting increases in rates are out-of-state and international students. Those rates will remain at $552.75 per credit hour for on-campus learning and $314.75 per credit hour for online/distance learning.

However, out-of-state and international students will experience a 50-cent increase in student activity fees.

Outside of additional course fees charged to defray the costs of supplies, equipment, maintenance, and unusual expenses associated with the course, there may be book fees assessed for some courses as part of the approved 2025-26 course fee schedule.

The increase comes after Parkland College opted to keep tuition rates unchanged for the 2024-25 academic year.
