NOKOMIS — Harold Beaman, 83, of Nokomis, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Nokomis Rehabilitation and Health Center.
Mr. Beaman was born February 13, 1941, in Montgomery County to Samuel and Nadine (Barker) Beaman. He attended Nokomis schools and went on to become an Operating Engineer, “Master Mechanic”. He and Judith Hilt were married on July 30, 1961, at Grace Methodist Church in Nokomis.
Harold was a lifetime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #150 in Countryside. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #456 and had served as Grand Master on two different occasions. He was also a member of the Nokomis Rotary, President of the Fairview Cemetery Board, and had been instrumental in bringing back the pagoda in Fred B. Johnson Park and keeping the park a vital part of Nokomis. Mr. Beaman was a very spiritual gentleman and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nokomis. He was a classic car enthusiast and proud owner of both 1939 and 1956 Chevys and a 1952 pickup. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife Judy, he is survived by his son Bill (Nancy) Beaman of Elgin, grandchildren Richard Beaman and Aric Beaman, both of Elgin, and granddaughter Cathryn of Woodbridge, Virginia, brothers Robert (Martha) Beaman of Nokomis, Ben (Linda) Beaman of Ringwood, sisters Grace (Johnny) Eskridge of Hebron, and Marjorie (Dan) O’Halleron of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by brothers Larry and Roy Beaman and sisters Mary, Hazel, and Anita Beaman.
Visitation for Harold Beaman will be Friday, March 29, 2024, at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, 200 E. State Street, Nokomis from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff VanDyke and Rev. Randy West officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, rural Nokomis.
