DECATUR — Tomatoes are America’s most popular garden vegetable because they are easy to grow, and each plant produces abundant fruit. The tomato plant is a warm-season perennial grown in summer gardens and comes in many varieties. Join the Macon County Master Gardeners for a free workshop at the Forsyth Public Library and discover their secrets to growing great tomatoes.

Growing Tomatoes will be at 11 a.m. on March 28 at the Forsyth Public Library, 268 S. Elwood St. in Forsyth. University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener volunteers will share tips and tricks for growing great tomatoes with all who attend. This is a free event, but advanced registration is requested. Please call the Forsyth Public Library at (217) 877-8174 by March 26.

The Macon County Master Gardeners are volunteers trained by the University of Illinois Extension. Master Gardeners fulfill their mission of Helping Others Learn to Grow by volunteering their time and horticulture skills through community gardening projects and educational outreach.

The University of Illinois Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate, please contact Whitney at (217) 877-6042. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting your access needs.
