TAYLORVILLE — The following police blotter has been reported by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department for the period of November 21-29, 2023 and are as follows:

Accidents

  • November 21: A vehicle driven by Antonio Aikens, no age or address reported, was northeast on Illinois Route 48 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, and ran off the roadway striking a tree. It deflected off the tree, and came to rest against a second tree. Aikens was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
  • November 22: Vehicles driven by Jeff Daugherty and Robert Jefferson, no ages or addresses reported, were involved in an accident in Stonington Township. The Daugherty vehicle was southwest on the highway at 2300N. The Jefferson vehicle was northeast on on the highway and Daugherty stated he had fallen asleep, went into the other lane and struck the trailer Jefferson was pulling, damaging a rear axle. Daugherty’s vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.
  • November 22: A vehicle driven by Shaina Daniel was traveling northwest on Illinois Route 29 at 1847N. when it struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
  • November 23: A vehicle driven by Lane Whitney, no age or address reported, was traveling east on 1900N Road at approximately 2600E Road when it struck a deer. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was driven from the scene.
  • November 23: A vehicle driven by Larry Upton, no age or address reported, was northbound on 600E at 1400 N when it was struck by a deer that ran in the roadway. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was driven from the scene.
  • November 24: A vehicle driven by Harry Miller, no age or address reported, was northbound on 1800E Road when a deer ran across the roadway and struck a deer in the middle of the roadway. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was driven from the scene.
  • November 25: A vehicle driven by Christopher Nelson, no age or address reported, was northeast on Illinois Route 48. The driver said that he fell asleep, went off the roadway and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled twice in the south ditch and had minor scratches on his hands. Nelson did not want medical attention. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
  • November 27: Vehicles driven by Beth Binkley and Hannah Brown, no ages or addresses reported, collided in Mosquito Township. The Binkley vehicle was northbound on 2000E Road at 2400N. The Brown vehicle was westbound on 2400N Road and approaching the intersection with 2000East. The Binkley vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and crossed in front of the Brown vehicle. There was front-end damage to the Brown vehicle, which hit the passenger side of the Binkley vehicle, which came to rest on the driver’s side in a deep ditch on the northwest side of the intersection. Brown’s also came to rest in the ditch on the northwest side of the intersection and was tipped to the passenger side about 45 degrees. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to the hospital and the vehicles were towed from the scene.
  • November 27: Jacob Mundell, no age or address reported, was westbound on 350N Road when a deer entered the roadway and was struck, causing damage to the vehicle’s front end. It was towed from the scene and no injuries were reported.
  • November 28: A vehicle driven by Darci Harrison, no age or address reported, was southbound on County Highway 1 near 1300E Road in rural Nokomis when a deer entered the roadway. The front end of Harrison’s vehicle made contact with the deer. No one was injured and the vehicle was driven from the scene.
  • November 29: Diane King, no age or address reported, was eastbound on Langleyville Road in Taylorville Township when a deer struck the vehicle on the driver side. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was driven from the scene.
  • November 29: Jared Stuemke, no age or address reported, was westbound on Illinois Route 104 in South Fork Township when a deer entered the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. No one was injured and the vehicle was driven from the scene.
