LADDONIA, Mo. — A Vandalia man died in a two-vehicle accident along U.S. Highway 54, roughly a half-mile east of Audrain County Road 448 near Laddonia.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Friday, Feb. 18 at 12:47 p.m.
The report stated that Kevin E. Murray, 34, of Vandalia, lost control of his eastbound 2002 Chevrolet Blazer and crossed over the centerline. The vehicle struck the front of a westbound 2016 Freightliner, driven by Bashir J. Isse, 32, of Columbus, Ohio.
Murray was dead at the scene, marking Troop F’s fourth fatality in February and 15th for 2022.
Isse was wearing his seatbelt, but it was unknown if Murray was.
Traffic was diverted around the accident site for hours while emergency personnel worked the scene. Isse sustained minor injuries while refusing medical treatment at the scene.
Driving conditions last Thursday and Friday proved a challenge due to significant snowfall, sleet, and ice. The combination would eventually cause hazardous road conditions.
Murray was transported to Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico.
