Mary Ann Hedges, 89, of Moweaqua, died February 14, 2022 in Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth.
Mary Ann was born on February 5, 1933 in Moweaqua, the daughter of Edward and Alice (Thompson) Sanner.
She married James E. Hedges on September 17, 1955 in Moweaqua. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2007.
Mary Ann was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church of Moweaqua, serving as a Lay Minister and a spiritual advisor along with other positions within the church. She grew up on the farm and had a passion for farming her entire life as she farmed alongside her husband Jim.
Mary Ann was always active enjoying early morning walks as well as golf league. She had wonderful times with close friends in a coffee club. One of the things she was the proudest of was her world travels with brother Bob and sister Carol. She lived life to the fullest.
Surviving is her children Carol Ann (Jody Long) Williams of Jacksonville, AL and James A. (Loretta) Hedges of Decatur, grandchildren Evan (Parul) Williams of Memphis, TN, Nora (Jack) Golden of Kansas City, MO, Austin Williams of Atlanta, GA, Jack Hedges of St. Louis, MO, and Mitch Hedges of Decatur, great-grandchildren Reeyan Williams, Mary Claire and Clark Golden as well as nephews and nieces Jim Sanner, Lori Sanner, and Randy (Margo) Sanner, Cindy Minott, and Troy (Tereasa) Duncan.
Preceding her in death are her husband Jim, parents, brother Bob Sanner, and sister Carol Duncan.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 in the First United Methodist Church of Moweaqua with visitation starting at 11:30 a.m. Masks and physical distancing are recommended.
Burial will be in Westside Cemetery, Moweaqua. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua has been entrusted with the care and service arrangements.
