Gertrude Josephine Stickel, 94, of Assumption, died January 20, 2022 in her home.
Josephine was born on December 2, 1927 in Assumption, the daughter of Joseph and Gertrude (Delaney) Yonikus.
She married Charles Wesley Stickel, Jr. on February 3, 1947 in Assumption, and he preceded her in death on November 2, 1983.
Josephine was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Altar Society.
Surviving are her children William (Pat) Stickel of Murfreesboro, TN, Joe (Brenda) Stickel of Assumption, Kaye (John) Bonn of Moweaqua, Susan (Dennis) Pescitelli of Seabrook Island, SC, Judy Stickel of Moweaqua, and Marlene (Bill) Kinsey of Oconee, 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and sisters Mary Nolan of Taylorville, and Karen Sartore of Pana.
Preceding her in death are parents, husband, and two siblings.
Funeral mass will be 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Assumption. Visitation will begin two hours prior to service time. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Assumption.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption has been entrusted with the care and service arrangements.
