HILLSBORO/JACKSONVILLE — A Hillsboro woman with a last known address in Waverly wanted in several Central Illinois counties on various charges is back on the run.

According to WLDS News, 25-year-old Abigail L. Martin failed to appear in Morgan County Court Wednesday. Martin was to appear in a pre-trial hearing on a forgery charge. The charge stems from an April 2019 incident, where Martin allegedly entered a Jacksonville car dealership with intent to purchase a vehicle using a presumed stolen check.

Warrant activated for Martin not appearing in Montgomery County

Martin also failed to appear on November 1 in Montgomery County Court for a pre-trial hearing. She is facing charges in relation to an April 2020 incident in Hillsboro.

Martin was arrested April 29, 2020 by Montgomery County deputies following a report from a former employee of the Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. The report resulting in the arrest reveals that Martin was practicing as a nurse without a license.

An investigation by deputies would later reveal two additional former employees attesting Martin claimed an inability to perform basic nursing skills. Later discovery reveals the license allegedly in use was that of another individual.

Martin faces felony identity theft in addition to misdemeanor charges in relation to the incident. Add bond forfeiture into the mix.

Martin facing charges in three other counties

Martin’s streak of alleged crimes extends into Fulton, Greene, and Madison counties. In Madison County, she faces similar charges practicing nursing without a license at a local hospital.

Charges vary in Fulton and Greene counties from theft to deceptive practice.

Martin had a psychiatric evaluation earlier this year in the Greene County case. The evaluation found Martin fit to stand trial in the case.

Still actively wanted in two states on warrants

In addition to the active warrants in Morgan and Montgomery counties, Martin is also found wanting elsewhere.

In a previous report earlier this year, we did report on active warrants in North Carolina and South Carolina.

The North Carolina county of Mecklenburg has an active warrant for her arrest in relation to a May 18, 2018 incident. Union County Sheriff’s Department arrested Martin on procurement of goods under false pretenses near Waxhaw, which is outside of Charlotte.

Officials from both Union and Mecklenburg counties confirm the charges and the warrant as of December 1. She was released on a $30,000 bond on the charge. The fugitive tracking website MugShots reveals an active warrant bond for $50,000.

As of press time, there is very little known about the South Carolina warrant.
