The Rotary eClub of Central Illinois (RECI) met via Zoom teleconference on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
RECI is making final preparations for its Pints for Polio fundraiser, which will be held Sunday, Oct. 24 at Opera House Brewing Company in Hillsboro. The hours for the fundraiser will be noon to 5 p.m.
Raffle tickets for a brewmaster experience are now available for $5 per ticket. Tickets are available through any RECI member and at Opera House Brewing Company leading up to the event. The experience will allow you to create a beer recipe, brew the beer on-site, and name the final product.
Donation raffle baskets for the fundraiser are ready to go. There will also be food trucks available on-site that day.
Additionally, pint glasses with the Pints for Polio brand will be sold. More details will come closer to the event.
Hanna Turner presented a potential volunteer opportunity at the previous meeting. Due to her absence from this meeting, further updates will be available at the next meeting.
A potential service project surrounding Veterans Day is under consideration. This comes as part of a discussion brought forth by guest Chief Master Sgt. Amanda Stewart from the Illinois Air National Guard. Some things potentially discussed were attendance at the Veterans Walk, laying wreaths on the gravesites of veterans, cleanup of the local war memorials, and a veterans breakfast.
RECI is seeking design ideas for various items of swag for its members using the Rotary brand. A more in-depth idea of offerings will be made clear in the upcoming months, with the current focus being on T-shirts.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom. RECI meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, with occasional in-person events.
