Missouri Valley updates 2020-21 conference schedule

For the conference part of the season, MVC schools will play 18 games. Most conference teams will face each other in a two-game series. Additionally, these games will be held over two days at the same site.

Each school will play four series on the road and four at home. Each team will also face a designated ‘travel partner’ in a single game. These games are likely held on a neutral site in a home-and-home series.

The intent of this format is to significantly reduce travel. Additionally, it emphasizes the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches, and staff.

Two rescheduling windows will be available. Those dates are January 30-31 and February 27-28.

Further risk reduction, less travel, and fewer cross-team interactions should provide the conference with the best chance to play most games.

MVC plans for season contact tracing

In addition, the Missouri Valley Conference COVID-19 working group has been working tirelessly in establishing testing and operational standards. As a result, they have employed KINEXON SafeZone to assist in contact tracing.

KINEXON SafeZone utilizes lightweight, wearable devices, called SafeTags, which will be used conference-wide for all athletes and staff. Moreover, they will be done during all practices and games.

The technology accurately calculates the proximity between individuals by distance and length of time. This is in order to perform a quick and accurate contact tracing. The devices will be in use by all officials during the conference schedule.
