RURAL CHRISTIAN COUNTY (Heartland Newsfeed) — District 9 of the Illinois State Police released a preliminary investigation report regarding a traffic accident that took place along U.S. Route 51 in rural Christian County Friday evening, Feb. 16.
A red Ford pickup truck, owned by Denny C.I. Timmermans, 47, of Assumption, was heading westbound on County Road 1200 North while a white 2016 International bob tail truck-tractor, owned by Donald J. Juenger, 51, of Cahokia, was heading southbound of U.S. Route 51. At around 5:25 p.m., Timmermans failed to yield and drove onto U.S. 51, resulting in the truck being struck by Juenger’s truck-tractor.
Neither Juenger or his passenger, Sandra M. Juenger, 51, also of Cahokia, sustained any injuries. Timmermans was transported to Pana Community Hospital and later airlifted to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield with non-life threatening injuries. All parties were wearing their seat belts.
Timmermans was cited for operation of an uninsured vehicle and failure to yield at a stop intersection.
