LOS ANGELES (UPI) — George Clooney is developing an eight-part limited series for Netflix based around the Watergate scandal which rocked the White House in the 1970s.
Clooney is partnering with Bride of Spies writer Matt Charman on the project who is also writing the script, The Hollywood Reporter noted.
Clooney’s Smokehouse Pictures label is producing through Sonar Entertainment which has a first-look deal with Smokehouse. The actor and his partner Grant Heslov are serving as executive producers.
The series titled Watergate, will focus on an individual involved in the scandal each episode including former Attorney General John Mitchell and Richard Nixon counsel John Ehrlichman, Deadline reported.
Clooney recently signed on to star in a direct a TV miniseries based on Joseph Heller’s novel Catch-22.
